“The greatest love of all…”
“If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?”
The late, great Whitney Houston, and of course one of the reigning queens Miss RuPaul, weren’t just blowing glitter up our asses - they have a point.
This can be extra hard for us queer folk since we’ve had some pretty intense conditioning to the contrary.
But that’s all the more reason to go even harder on self-love.
It is my belief and mission that we as gay men practice one of the ultimate expressions of self-love: caring for our bodies.
We know that those who participate in self-harming activities tend to have trouble with the idea of loving themselves.
So the opposite must be true - if we are taking good care of our bodies (and of course minds) - we are showing love for ourselves.
You know what I’m going to say, and that’s because I always say it but also because it’s true:
Exercising and eating good foods is self-love!
You’re giving your body a huge, tight hug.
On this Valentine's Day, I encourage you to make YOU your Valentine first.
And eat some nutritious food that you love, workout the body that you love…
And then you can share all that hard-practiced LOVE with anyone else you choose.
You are loved, now go love yourself. CAN I GET AN AMEN UP IN HERE!?
Love,
💜 Coach Zach 💜
